2006 Trade Week begins with a Bang!

The AFL’s official trading period started with a bang on Monday with disgruntled Lion Jason Akermanis granted his wish to be traded to the Western Bulldogs. With trade week set to start at 10:30 on Brisbane football manager Graeme Allan and Bulldogs’ recruiting manager Scott Clayton approached AFL officials at 10:14 to notify them of the trade. “We have agreed on a trade with Jason Akermanis to the Bulldogs - we’re still working out the finer details - there will be no player involved in the trade and that’s all we’re saying at the moment,” Allan announced directly after. “We can’t say yet because we’re still working out the finer details, so we don’t want to say anymore and we’ll come back to you later.

Patrick and SpiderWell the first trade of trade week was announced and it was Ackermanis to the Bulldogs for a yet discussed group of draft picks. This is the first of what might be a lively week this year for the 2006 Trade Week.

Other big names in the news are:

  • Peter “Spider” Everitt looking to get to the Swans
  • Chris Tarrant going to the one of the Western Australian Teams
  • Graham Polak moving away from Fremantle

I will be doing the wrap-up of the Grand Final and the preview of trade week tonight and hopefully ready for tomorrow morning. I will definely doing a show Friday evening and maybe even a mid-week or daily edition.

Stay subscribed.
